Assistant Director - Registered Early Childhood Director - Burlington

BrightPath is looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Director  - Registered Early Childhood Educator for their Peekaboo Burlington Center, ON

The Assistant Director is responsible for supporting the Centre Director to ensure the centre is run smoothly, efficiently, and professionally.

Duties:

Administration

  • assist in the collection of fees
  • receive enrolments and enquiries and follow these up appropriately
  • assist in maintaining a list of relief staff
  • ensure that staff records are kept up to date and remain current
  • ensure that the information kept on each child is current
  • assist in keeping the computer work up to date

Centre Duties

  • ensure the physical environment is monitored and maintained
  • assist in ensuring that all centre correspondence is attended to (centre records are up to date at all times)
  • understand the signals of assistance required from centre staff

Programming

  • support and assist in the programming and observations etc. of each group as needed

Interactions

  • ensure all new parents and children are orientated into the centre
  • assist with resolving problems occurring at the centre
  • support all new staff settle into the centre
  • display a positive, supportive attitude to all staff members
  • encourage staff to work together as a team
  • facilitate Parent/ Staff meetings to provide opportunities to evaluate centre programs and gain valuable input
  • assist with open houses and tours

Working with Staff

  • prepare staff training meetings
  • maintain professional ethics and practices at all times
  • provide orientation for new staff
  • function as a mediator
  • organize relief staff
  • delegate jobs

Working with Families                                                                                                             

  • communicate effectively with parents
  • promote the quality care and education within the centre
  • oversee children’s well being
  • key support person to parents

Qualifications

  • Registered Early Childhood Education Certification
  • 2 or more years’ experience in a leadership role
  • CPR/First Aid Certificate
  • Current Criminal History Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Intermediate skills of the Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
  • Safe Food Handling Certificate would be an asset
  • Class 4 drivers’ license would be an asset
